home school software

just the beginning

Discover the latest homeschool software and how the many subjects and titles can help your children succeed!

We all have the goal of seeing our children graduate from high school or college.  We want to see them succeed and have happy and productive lives.  If we want to help them succeed then we need to do our best to supply them with the proper tools.

Today’s latest software for homeschoolers can vary from the very specific subject matter, to a broad and comprehensive approach.  Software can be purchased as individual programs or as part of a comprehensive package.

The advantage of purchasing a total homeschooling software package is that you don’t have to spend as much time putting all of the pieces together.  This type of software suite can help you in your curriculum design, lesson planning, daily exercises and testing, as well as the paperwork documentation that comes along with homeschooling.

Should you decide that you would rather piece together the software as you go along, the advantage here is that you have more flexibility and are able to spread out your costs over time.

Individual homeschool software can include titles on specific subject matter, specifically designed for different age groups.  You can find very affordable tiles on learning to read and write, vocabulary skills, math, science, art and a whole rang of fun and engaging activities that would be suitable for your child’s abilities.

As you progress with the teaching of your homeschooled child, you will want to measure his or her progress.  There are many different testing software packages available to the consumer.  You will even find software to help your children prepare for the tests!

If your children decide that college is in their future, there is software to help them prepare and decide on what field of study they might want to pursue.  College level classes or exams can be taken so that they have college credits before they even get out of high school!

At every step along the path of homeschooling, software programs can make you more efficient and save you time.  Of course these are just some of the tools that you will use along the way, but they are a great investment in the development of your child and your homeschooling program.

What Makes Successful Homeschooling Programs?

Homeschooling Programs

Great Results...

Successful homeschooling programs may have a defined goal as one which leads your child on the educational path towards higher education.  There are numerous ways to reach this goal, so let’s look at other important factors to consider in choosing your homeschooling program.

You should write down your own personal reasons for wanting to homeschool your child.  Some of the reasons may be purely practical.  For instance, your family may move around quite a bit and homeschooling would provide your child with more stability.  I attended nine different schools before graduating from high school… this is an experience that I did not want for my children.  Your child may have special needs that require more constant attention or supervision than a regular public or private school could provide.

Then there are the more personal reasons that you may have in mind as major considerations.  Maybe you don’t like the moral environment that your child would face as a part of the traditional education systems.  You may have strong religious beliefs that you want to teach your child and the public schools may be at odds with those belief systems or simply fail to include them as alternative teachings.  Finally, you may simply not want to miss being with your child as much as possible during his or her early informative years.  This was the major reason why my sister became a homeschooler.

Now take a look again at your written list of attributes that you consider most important in your ideal homeschooling program.  There are state requirements for your homeschooled child’s education, but that does not prevent you from incorporating your ideals into the program.  If you chose a teaching system, be it manual or via computer software, look for systems that contain the attributes you desire.  You may chose homeschooling software which is more generic, but you can then independently add in the important teachings of your choosing.

There are enough homeschooling programs available that you should be able to find one that fits your requirements.  If the system doesn’t include everything you may want, take the time to customize or accessorize it and make it your own.  Lesson plans and teacher guides are not etched in stone, they are there as flexible tools that you can use to help you reach your ultimate goals.
